Solidifying some ideas with how I want to spend my energy in 2026. Some of this will be negative -- what I DONT want to do, to remind myself how to spend my energy

1. Writing. My niche is solidly nonfiction -- it's what I read, write, talk about, think about. I'm in the 0.1% of us population in terms of Reading Articles. I want to try more experimental narrative stuff, but fiction and poetry simply aren't what I'm into.

2. Coding. I am working on solidifying some projects here. I'm interested in making little web apps that people can self-host, but NO ONE self-hosts. No one has even expressed interested to me for example in self-hosting flounder for 6 years. Platforms have won -- but I'm not really that interested in building platforms. Platforms with a lot of users require a lot of work. I can not fix bugs in flounder for years and its fine, I couldn't do that with a proper platform. I think I get caught up this idea that oh my next project will "take off", but I don't think I want the work involved with that, and I need to remind myself of this. There are existing platforms that are basically fine (sourcehut for example). Platforms require active maintenance and suck up my time. I like making little web apps that are playgrounds for me to experiment with stuff, but I don't want to make anything larger scale than that -- that's a job for Employed Alex.

3. Fitness (my google sheet is "brain and body"). I want to put this higher priority in my life, I'm becoming unc and also have thought about e.g. running super consistently as something I do 'in the future'

4. cooking

Immediate projects:

- Write up the rpi workshop (I already committed to this and I am procrastinating)

- Deploy new version of data.3cardmagic.org
